“Architecture must stir the soul”
Born in Japan and trained between Tokyo and Paris, Miho Maeda develops an architecture where space, environment and the human being are one. A qualified HMONP architect since 2015, she enriches her practice with training in raw-earth construction and nurtures her artist's eye through ceramics.
Her experience within renowned international practices — those of Christian de Portzamparc, Nicolas Laisné and Pierre Audat — has shaped her signature: a sensitive architecture that reveals the essence of places. For Miho Maeda, each project is a mirror of its environment — human relationships, nature, the stories of the place — which she translates into pure, memorable spaces.
This approach, nourished by her dual Japanese and French culture, is expressed through a particular attention to detail, to light and to harmony, creating places that leave a lasting mark on the senses and the memory.
Studio Miho Maeda Architecture designs spaces in constant dialogue with their environment. Our architecture lets one perceive the rhythm of the seasons, sense the presence of others and of oneself, and fully inhabit a daily life that unfolds with the people who live there.
Each project becomes a sensory experience, conceived to take root in the body and leave a lasting imprint.
Each project is born of a deep attentiveness to the context and to the client's aspirations. Our approach favours:
- Understanding the spirit of the place and the ways of living
- The dialogue between the intimate and the world: nature, society, environment
- The rigorous choice of natural, bio-sourced materials
- A considered environmental approach to reduce the carbon footprint
We create a balance between aesthetics, function, durability and narrative, shaping spaces that tell a unique story — one our clients can make their own and bring to life every day.
The studio supports its clients throughout the project, from planning to final delivery. On-site supervision ensures the quality of the work, adherence to deadlines and the careful selection of craftspeople and techniques. Every stage is guided by attentive listening, so that the architectural intention is faithfully honoured — with respect for the environment and for building standards.
